This aerial photo shows the Nuremberg Zoo, with its four ponds and the adjacent animal enclosures. At the top left of the picture is the elongated Luitpold Hall, and beyond that the parkland of the Luitpold Grove, both of which had been installed for the Bavarian State Exhibition in 1906. The National Socialists began completely restructuring the area in 1933 as a place where they could hold their annual Party Rallies – elaborate propaganda events.
