A view of one of the most recognisable parts of the architecture of Gdańsk - Długie Pobrzeże. Historical buildings such as the House of the Nature Society (on the left) and the Crane (in the centre), shown in the left part of the painting, stand along the Motława river. The buildings, painted in yellow, brown and orange, are reflected in the river's blue waters. The painting is a "city portrait" - an idealised image of the city's symbols, related to the history and traditions of Gdańsk. The author of the work, Berthold Hellingrath, created many artistic depictions of Gdańsk and its surroundings. His works were often made during kayaking trips.
