At first glance, the horned birds in this fantastical and surreal composition may not elicit the familiar. The bird-like creatures, human-like shapes, and beast-like animals in Earth House represent artist Yi-Lung Lin’s observations of everyday life. However, none of these supernatural figures were derived from real life; rather, they are hybrids of Lin’s various experiences and imagination. Concocted with the residues of his emotions and memories, the subjects of this work symbolize the nature of life.
