Egg cooker "Chicken with egg"

Berlin, Germany

The only things missing here are three eggs, fuel paste and water: The egg cooker "chicken with egg", which was created in 1896, was Richard Riemerschmid's (1868-1957) first draft for a household appliance. Only two versions are known, it never came to a serial production. Since the artist had married in 1895, it seems natural that he wanted to delight his wife with this original "animal". The chicken is reminiscent of an important Nuremberg goldsmith's work in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum - the silver cock cup created by Hans Petzold in 1599.
