Snuff bottles were often used during the Qing dynasty. Owned by doctors, they contained a mixture of tobacco and other leaves as an herbal medicine. A monkey is seen as a guardian in Southern China for their ability to drive off evil spirits. Elephants are associated with Buddhism and symbolize peace, luck, and good fortune.
