Lapidary is the art of cutting and polishing stone. People of all ages enjoy this exceptional museum dedicated to sharing with others the beauty of gemstones and providing an environment for all people to learn about lapidary art and the nature of rocks and minerals. Founded in 1962 by Joseph Lizzadro, Sr., the Museum houses a large collection of Chinese jade and other hard-stone carvings from around the world. Displays include stone mosaics, animal dioramas, mineral specimens, gemstones and fossils. The Museum was expanded and relocated in 2019 to Oak Brook, Illinois, 16 miles west of Chicago. Open year round and fully handicapped accessible.
