This silk evening bag was designed and embroidered by May Morris, William Morris’s younger daughter. It has been worked in tapestry stitch and includes plaited silk handles in shades of light yellow-green, and four silk tassels at the corners. The design on the front shows a rose, tulips and small blue flowers in shades of pink, green and blue. The back of the bag features a border of small flowers and a pink rose. The bag is lined in cream ribbed silk.
