Green silk yardage embroidered with peonies, chrysanthemums, plum flowers and butterflies. The embroidery has been contained to the decorative area of a women's robe, as this yardage had yet to be cut and sewn into the final garment. There is an overlapping section of fabric, which would have become the front flap of the robe. This yardage was made in the late 19th century, as the vibrant colours were made with synthetic aniline dyes.
