This shadow puppet was made during the 1970s by Wang Wenkun, the sixth-generation disciple of Wang School of Shadow Puppets, as a homage to the shadow puppets made 300 years earlier. Its plant-based dye remains as lustrous as it was when the shadow puppet was first created. The shadow puppet’s face is a display of exquisite carving with its smooth, flowing lines. Its head is not connected to the headgear, a characteristic of the Wang School of Shadow Puppets.
