A Navarrese sculptor who was trained in Pamplona, Saragossa and Barcelona, M. Clemente Ochoa started in the world of art as a draughtsman and painter. Later, he discovered sculpture, with which he earned numerous awards and distinctions, both nationally and internationally. He is Don at the University of Barcelona, so he was favourable to exhibiting his work at the Arrosadía campus.
José Luis L. Aranduren says the following about his works: leaden, they gravitate solidly on the ground and, acquiring agility, they become airborne and soar toward the Absolute. Or they assert themselves and, at the same time, evade; they are evading themselves.”
M. Clemente Ochoa is a sculptor with skill and extensive academic training. His creative spirit ends with the homogeneity of subjects, the canon, the anatomy... replaces tradition with a dynamic continuity of forms, with an extension of the sculpture to venture into space. M. Clemente Ochoa is a researching sculptor who has tried to widen the horizon of sculpture by providing the influences of a cultural and environmental setting with a plastic shape.
Encuentro (‘Encounter’) does no seek archaic immobility. It does not offer a range of rigid profiles, of motionless silhouettes. Each profile contains an indication in itself to understand the others. His figures are forms of determined and passionate activity; compositions of an imagination that sets a dynamic dialogue between the inanimate and the living, between the immobile and the moving. It intends to make the object live in the environment that surrounds it.
