The panel shows two episodes from the life of St. Catherine: her profession of faith before the emperor Maximilian and her beheading. The story is told by figures with a delicate appearance that move in interiors built like theatrical stage sets. The painter has taken the utmost care in setting the scenes, in particular, for the episode of martyrdom, as can be seen from the tiled floor, the sequence of arches and the difficult glimpse of the kneeling saint.
