Fabric "Number 1" was designed by Ermenegildo Zegna himself, drawing and diligently noting every single weft and warp of it in one of his notebooks. This first Zegna fabric, created in 1910, weighed 500 grams a meter. In 2010, after a hundred years of textile innovation, a commemorative version was produced using superfine 15 milmil 15 wool weighing a mere 270 grams a meter and highlighting the details of the original, and still modern looking, design. In the same year Lanificio Zegna produced also a limited edition called "Centennial Vellus Aureum", a mere 20 cuts of the world's most prestigious fabric, obtained from the wools that won the "Vellus Aureum International Trophy"
