Western Australia's women's national representation peaked in 1981-82 when five players were chosen in Australia's World Cup team for the series in New Zealand played 10 Jan - 7 Feb 1982. The "Famous Five" as they were dubbed were batters Karen Read, Denise Alderman and Peta Verco, bowler Denise Martin and wicketkeeper Terri Russell. All contributed in some way in Australia's overall World Cup records in New Zealand.
