I have been working on this series since 2013, and like many of my artworks, its origin does not come from my own authorship. This has to do with the fact that I am always paying attention to the graphic elements that are in the city, like trying to discover something. That is what happened with these paintings. At a certain moment, I found out that covering two letters of the Spanish word VENDE on the signs of properties for sale, I had the English word END. From that moment, I started the search of those metal sheet signs. In each painting, I notice how the support was submitted to modifications that speak of the passing of time. The paintings come with a text that connects them to an event that took place in 2002, when I came across a sign that said “I sell everything” painted in black letters on a white background. I was fascinated: what I had in front of me was much more than a sign, it was a real feeling, a sensation of despair. At that time, you could find on the streets the consequences of the 2001 crisis.
