The Fogueteiros Wall still preserves three large arches. According to Horácio Marçal, the central arch had a fountain called «of Fogueteiros», whose water, that would drip into a large tank built in 1843 (MARÇAL, 1961: 169-173), proceeded from «inside the fence – also known as Malvas – of the Royal Hospital of Cordoaria», as detailed in Mapa das Fontes Públicas (map of the public fountains), dated from 1835 (TEIXEIRA, 2011: 218).
