This early-19th century fan ornamented with the major deities of the Greek Pantheon was collected by Richmond-based artist, author and antiques dealer Margaret May Dashiell (1869–1958), a well-known importer of European prints and decorative arts who studied under Richmond artist Edward V. Valentine (1838–1930)
