Settlement pottery is the term for shards from clay pots and vessels which come to light during excavations of houses and storage pits. In contrast to grave wares that were especially made for burial or consisted of a household’s “good dishes”, settlement pottery includes plain cooking vessels, milk vessels, and storage vessels for everyday use.
