The New Dutch Waterline is 85 kilometres long, 3 to 5 kilometres wide and extends between Muiden and the Biesbosch. Fort Pannerden, near the Dutch-German border, is the easternmost fortress, strategically located at the junction of the rivers Rhine and Waal and the Pannerdensch Canal.
