Due to the uniqueness of insect fossils, many species may not have been named officially. This beetle is named after the pattern on its back shell which looks like peanut shell. It is often found in the strata of 165 million years ago at Daohugou Biota in Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia. It has been extinct now.
