Fossils in Mestre

Looking for fossils in Mestre, a city without a great story behind it and grown in the shadow of the well known and artistically rich city of Venice, and choosing to adopt them as a “monument” was an unusual and much appreciated way of stimulating students' curiosity. This has favored their knowledge and the spirit of observation.
So they have been able to see, in places where they live, often apparently anonymous and gray, the traces of a distant past.
A society that runs ever faster and that forgets or invites to forget what has been “its past" in order to conquer more and more sophisticated virtual worlds, risks distancing ourselves in a dangerously irreversible way from the natural world. For this reason we think that elaborating all the questions about the past and the beauties of nature, is important to make us feel part of the world and of history.
Maintaining contact and dialogue with our land, the most important wealth we have inherited, also through the observation of fossil evidence, becomes the beginning of a lifestyle that takes into consideration the respect of natural environments and that will make us more and more careful for the many environmental emergencies typical of our time.
