This thangka depicts Four-Faced Mahākāla in the centre with Vajradhara above, flanked by Bhūtaḍāmara-Vajrapāṇi on the left and Mahākāla in the form of a Brahmin seer on the right, and surrounded by attendants. On the back of the thangka there are written in red letters Mahākāla’s mantra, a consecration mantra, etc. The choice of tutelary and Dharma-protecting deities above Mahākāla suggests that this thangka is of Sa-skya-pa provenance.
