Built in 1897, the “Correo Central de Lima” is the work of the architects Emilio Pazos and Maximo Doig, with complementary designs by Manuel J. San Martin and Eduardo de Brugada. It is known as “Casa de Correos y Telegrafos”, and it’s located half a block from the “Plaza de Armas” of Lima. Between 1920 and 1924, two extensions were made to the building, which was integrated into the public space through a rear passageway, across the block. Currently, the Postal and Philatelic Museum of Peru works in its facilities, as well as the House of Peruvian Gastronomy. It was declared a National Monument in 1972.
