The Hyundai Asan Corporation started the Gaeseong tourism business in association with North Korea in December 2007. The tour course starts from the Inter-Korean Transit Office in Dorasan and takes in Paju, North Korea via the Military Demarcation Line, and the cultural heritage site in Gaeseong, which was the capital of the Goryeo Dynasty for five hundred years. However, the new tourism business was brought to a sudden halt less than a year later, in November 2008, after an incident in which a South Korean tourist was shot dead by a North Korean guard.
