Genoveva Edroza-Matute taught Filipino for almost 50 years, retiring as Dean of the Filipino Department at Philippine Normal College. Her short stories such as "Ang Kuwento ni Mabuti" were often featured in textbooks for elementary and high school. Her works are social realistic; Sa Anino ng EDSA (1995) is a collection of short stories on the People Power Revolution, while Sa Ilalim ng Araw na Pula (2001) is a fictionalized version of her life during the Japanese occupation.
