This Dutch commemorative cup depicts a transfer print of the Prince of Orange leading the Dutch army in the Battle of Ravels on 3 August 1831. The transfer decoration was taken from a painting done by Johannes Jelgerhuis (1770-1838) in 1831. The Ten Days Campaign or Belgian Revolt occurred from 2-12 August 1831 and resulted in initial Dutch military success against the Belgians, but they withdrew as the French engaged in the war. The cup was donated by Louise van Gybland Oosterhoff to the University of Pretoria in 1937.
