This bow was owned by Tachibana Muneshige who was skilled in archery. The bow is heavily coated with gold lacquer, and shows a powerful and beautiful figure. It bears an inscription by Yoshida Shigeuji (1584-1644), the founder of the Hekiryu school of archery. Shigeuji, commonly called Okura, served the Maeda family in the Kaga domain. He distinguished himself as an expert archer during the Siege of Osaka. He won the archery competition held in Sanjusangen-do Temple in Kyoto six times.
