Postmortem portrait of Miguel de San Román (Puno, 1802 – Chorrillos, 1863), who was a Peruvian military man and politician. He participated in various battles for the Independence of Peru and, later, was part of the civil conflicts of the first republican years. In 1862, he became constitutional president of Peru. In the photograph, he is wearing a military uniform and presidential sash.
