In the course of the U-Bahn construction archaeological excavations took place at the Age Fischmarkt in 1958-59. About 400 metres away from the present U-Bahn station, archaeologists discovered two unusual looking bovine bones. They are so-called bone skates which people fastened underneath their shoes like ice skates, to cross frozen rivers and lakes in the winter.
