Happy Birthday, Taipei People !

Artist Sheung-Chuen Pak plays with photography, drawing, and conceptual art to explore the connection among people, cities and nature.

The source of Pak’s ideas comes from “L notes,” a notebook that he carries with him wherever he goes. He records all of the random thoughts that pop up in his mind, and this collection of ideas becomes the material with which he creates meaningful art projects or actions. Whether these actions could bring some changes to the world, the very existence of the notes has changed artist himself by a little bit.

For this year’s Very Fun Park, Pak invites his audience to trade memories with him as a part of an exchange that represents the fluidity of life: “I have trained seven memory experts called Monday to Sunday. They will be in the café everyday. Audience members whose birthdays are on that day will be asked to share their memory of their birthday two years ago. In exchange, the memory expert will tell share his or her story from the same day, two years ago.”
