Herrnhut paste paper pattern

Very characteristic and recognisable patterns were created following in the tradition of paste paper by the religious community which was established in the 18th century in Herrnhut (Germany); later the same patterns appeared in other countries as well.

Both the endpapers of Discipuli de tempore et de sanctis cum promptuario exemplorum (Basel, 1486) on the left and the cover of Rumbonys church birth register book (Rumbonys, 1809–1810) on the right are decorated with Herrnhut paste paper patterns.
