An oil painting from 1970 titled, Highveld Farm is a typical early scene by the South Africa artist Adriaan Boshoff (1935-2007). Boshoff was born in Pretoria in 1935 and became a qualified electrician but in his early 20s decided to become a full-time artist. He was inspired by the French impressionism and followed the impressionist style throughout his artistic career. In the 1950s, Boshoff, travelled extensively through southern Africa, from the Congo to the Cape always painting the scenes of the African landscape he experienced. Boshoff was considered a great perfectionist, quite the contrary to some of the impressionists. Boshoff attended to every painting as it had to be meticulously prepared and planned before final execution. Boshoff passed away at the age of 72 in 2007.
