Patrick Henry's Red Hill
Brookneal, Virginia, United States

Photograph showing the home of Elizabeth Henry Lyons, a great-granddaughter to Patrick Henry, at Red Hill. A note on the reverse states, “House to be remodeled and used as home by Rev. Ralph Bellwood, Manager of project.” The photograph is one of a collection taken by John W. Busch of the Southside Soil Conservation Service (SCS) on October 18, 1950. They document “Miracle Day” – an SCS demonstration project at Red Hill organized to rehabilitate the neglected farmland for the use of the Patrick Henry Boys Plantation.
