These skilled women are from the village of Rutongo, make a living from their knowledge, and participate in the economic growth of the village Rutongo. They established a cooperative in 2012 to help them achieving their goal of developing a sustainable activity based on their embroidery skills. When they started, they were five. Since 2013, the team grew and today more than 25 work full time in the workshop in Rutongo. They embroider for fashion and home decoration accessories. The workshop has partnered with other artisans working with leather or who are doing basketry and jewelry
