Made of ivory, miniatures with the iconography of the cult of the Virgin Mary, especially Our Lady of the Conception, the Good Shepherd or Christ Crucified are relatively common in museums and private collections. They are already the result of the combination of the Christian iconography and the techniques of Hindustani craftsmen.
They bear testimony to the intense trade maintained by the Portuguese with the Orient, and the hybridism or artistic miscegenation caused by this activity.
