Casa Alvão, an important photographic establishment in Oporto, founded in 1902, made several clichés of iron foundry parts that were published in CIF's industrial machinery catalogues.
These include ironers for cotton webs and large machines weighing up to 15,000 kg, which are essential for the textile sector.
The white stain that can be seen in the photograph proves its use in the product catalogue, having served to edit the background of the image.
