Ishiyakushiji Temple, Ishiyakushi, from the series the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (Hoeido edition)

The main gate to Ishiyakushi Temple can be seen straight ahead. Two people shouldering a carrying pole are walking in the direction of the temple. This famous temple was opened in the years from 724-729 by a head priest called Taicho when he saw a giant boulder appear out of the earth, was enlightened to believe that Yakushi Nyorai (the Medicine Buddha) had appeared in order to save the people, and dedicated the temple to him.
