Juliana Stein's Psychology degree prepared her eyes which have been dedicated to photography since the 1990's. In "nothing seems so true that it can't seem fake" she makes a word play about truth, falsehood, illusion and disillusion. Through a cotton-candy seller wearing Teweety Bird costume in order to attract children, she shows a shifting symbol. Here, childhood's heavenly happiness, immersed in cartoon fantasy, gives way to the imperative of survival which turns the old symbol of comfort, dream and safety into a symbol of work, discomfort and shame, even if dignified.
