In 1842, José Joaquim Pereira Jordão ordered the expansion of a land that led to the Dr. Barbosa de Castro Street, where the noble family house was to be built. In 1854, Mariana Emília Pereira Jordão Ferreira da Silva extended the building and its gate. After their death, the house was inherited by their children, Joaquim and Alfredo Ferreira da Silva Jordão, and eventually sold, in 1916, to an industrialist who therein settled the umbrella factory «Fábrica Portuense de Guarda-Sóis, Lda». The decorative elements, such as statues, bowls with flowers and the wall date to the 18th century. Today, the house belongs to the artistic cooperative Árvore. This building was recognized as a Property of Public Interest in 1970.
