Zaragoza, Spain

Jug or vial with a globular body with a pyriform tendency with grooves on the lower part, a three-lobed mouth or pinch spout, a high cylindrical neck with straight walls and molding at the junction with the rim, and a slightly convex base. It is equipped with an oval section handle that originates in the upper area of the neck and ends in the body at the level of the area of greatest diameter.

The surface is treated with a honey glaze inside and outside, with decoration here from manganese-free dripping on the body and neck. In addition, it has ribbed decoration on the shoulder and a small molding at the junction between edge and neck.

The piece is made with whitish calcareous pastes, with a very fine degreaser, in oxidizing firing.

According to the research of Aránzazu Mendívil, the glazed finish and the decorative motif are documented in caliphal specimens from Córdoba and Madinat Ilbira. Also in Cercadilla (Córdoba) it corresponds to family 2, Type 2D. With this same morphology, other decorative techniques are used such as green and manganese on tin cover in specimens of which we do not know if they have a pinch pourer or not.

It has a maximum estimated capacity of 1,035 liters.
