Sokołowsko, where the Kieślowski family settled in 1951, is a picturesquely situated mountain village near Wałbrzych, famous for its micro-climate beneficial for health recovery. The tuberculosis sanatorium located there was founded in 1855 by Dr Herman Brehmer.
