The Portuguese Athletic and Fighting Federation (FPAL) was founded in 1925, with headquarters on Rua do Arco de Cego, in Lisbon. On December 4, 1934, resulting from the separation of the Portuguese Athletics and Fighting Federation, the Portuguese Amateur Fighting Federation (FPLA) was created.
