A sculpture titled Large Man by South African artist Angus Taylor. Taylor Made 4 sculptures of men for the Centenary sculpture in 2008. The University of Pretoria commissioned South African sculptor Angus Taylor to create a centenary sculpture for the universities 100 year anniversary. The sculptures was initially designed with four stone men holding bronze spheres with the university's history on it. However, the design did not work out as envisioned by the artist as it seemed to comical and instead four granite obelisks were installed with the histories attached to them. Three of the four stone men sculptures were donated by Taylor to the University of Pretoria and is located on the University's main campus. Short biography: Angus Taylor was born in 1970 and is a well known artist in South Africa and abroad for his powerful and mostly large scale sculptures. Taylor is a graduate of the University of Pretoria which bestowed an Alumni Laureate on him in 2005. In 1994 he won first prize in the PPC Young Concrete Sculptor Award. In 1997, he founded Dionysus Sculpture Works, where he casts his own and other sculptors' work and nurture the talent of young artists. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions, Taylor is predominantly involved in large scale commissions for national and local government and the private sector.
