The chair Lassù (Up there) was made according to a design by Alessandro Mendini by a Milanese carpenter who produced two identical copies. One copy is held at the Vitra Design Museum in Switzerland. The other was set on fire in a field opposite the editing offices of “Casabella” magazine and its remains can now be found in the archives of the University of Parma. There was no public performance - only a few people were present. Lassù is one of a select series of “Objects for Spiritual Use” which were intended for the covers of “Casabella” magazine. Lassù shows that objects experience birth, life and death and the dramas of life just as we do. The making of the miniature bronze replica began in 1983.
