Photo of Yoon Dongju and Doshisha University students on the Amagase Suspension Bridge of the Uji River in the early summer of 1943. Kitajima Mariko and Morita Haru, who are on the picture, remember that this peaceful excursion was a farewell party for the poet. As the Pacific War intensified and the wartime regime strengthened around this time, the poet, an international student from Korea, was planning to return to his hometown Longjing but was arrested for violating the Maintenance of the Public Order Act on July 14, shortly after this picture was taken.
