The largest pentatomidae species in the world as well as the dominant insect species in water. Its body is wide and flat with a length of 80-120mm for an adult. It mainly preys on other aquatic organisms, taking their body fluids with its piercing-sucking mouthparts. It is found in Argentina, Brazil, French Guiana, Colombia and Paraguay. Individuals differ from each other because of different geographical distribution. For example, the lines on the foot are different.
