In this letter to his friend, besides discussing matters related to the publication of his works in England, Chopin mentions Ignaz Moscheles. He regrets not attending his concert at the Salle Erard in Paris (Chopin was in Nohant at the time) and emphasises his attitude to contemporary music: ‘It would liven me up a little and drag me out of the well-worn, but empty pathways of modern music, generally so banal’.
