In this letter to his friend, written a few months before his death, Chopin sends him news of other people from his inner circle, including Jane Stirling, Solange Clésinger, Marie de Rozières, Countess Obreskow and Princess Sapieha. He also notes the deteriorating state of his health: ‘I’m panting, coughing and drowsy; I don’t do anything, I don’t feel like doing anything’.
