Letter from Józef Elsner to Fryderyk Chopin in Paris

The relations between Elsner and Chopin went far beyond the typical pupil–teacher relationship. A er Chopin emigrated to Paris, they kept in touch and exchanged warm correspondence. The former teacher gave the young composer advice and encouraged him to write an opera of a national character.
