In the battle of Byeokjegwan (northwestern Seoul) 1593, Muneshige’s force played a role of spearhead and led the Japanese army to victory. He then became widely known as a brave warrior. However, the victory came at the expense of more than 500 vassals’ lives.
In this letter, Muneshige praised the military exploits of his vassal, Ando Zenemon, who fought bravely and died in the battle.
