Cincinnati March 1 Dear Rupert Hughes: You're generous always. I'm damned glad you liked Main St- as, seven years ago, you were one of the first to like "Our Mr. Wrenn." I'm out here doing some lecturing - I have a hunch that it is about as hard work and about 1/10th as interesting as seeing the possibilities of the motion pictures...... A staid old club, very comfortable - and in the room next, with a bottle and a bowl of ice on the table, are two young = old gentlemen from Kentucky getting beautifully stewed [sic]. I wish I could ever give to a book the earnest, prayerful, quietly happy zeal they are giving to that labor of love. It is art, I suppose - and at its least selfish! I hope I am going really to see you, some day (I've never really talked to you for more than five minutes). And again - thank you! Sincerely yours, Sinclair Lewis
